This past year has been one focused, on my plein air work. In all honesty, I didn't really get off the ground with it until late summer. But each weekI go out now and try to get a painting done or at least a study done. Now that it is getting warmer, we are, of course, getting more rainy days. But I’m going to figure out how to work around that. 

I am teaching with a fair bit of regularity at RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, VA. I will also be teaching in late summer and fall at the Bay School in Mathews, VA. 

I live in the Northern Neck of Virginia.  I am surrounded by water and we have one of the longest coastlines on the East Coast with all the inlets and tidal rivers and creeks. Inland tends to be more flat but there are some really nice areas with intimate woodlands and rolling farm hills.  But I also love traveling and have developed a painting kit that I keep in my car. I’m currently teaching myself how to paint with gouache. 

I teach beginning and intermediate oil painting and just love seeing my students experience that "ah ha" moment when something clicks that they haven't tried before. I'm about halfway through a year long series called, "Mixology" (Basically color theory broken down into bite sized bits. Mixing greens, blacks, sky colors, etc. ) I’m open to private lessons if someone is really interested and committed to regular work with me.
